(I understand that this post may be difficult to follow because Marqui, the hosted CMS, and Marqui, the company, are well, named the same.)
Marqui is a CMS that we currently use at the company where I am employed. It is a hosted service, and it is not only a CMS in a traditional sense, but it is also being marketed as a 'Communication Management System'. I suppose I agree with that considering what Marqui does in terms of giving people who do not have the tools to markup code the ability to update their website content. One does not need to know how to edit or add code to communicate with their customers or readers.
Recently, Marqui introduced what they call their 'Blogosphere Program'. In a nutshell, they are paying bloggers to talk about Marqui, whether it is bad or good. Some people have issues with it. Legitimate reasons I suppose; if you are hiding the fact that you are paid to blog about a product or service, the trustworthiness of the company and your reputation is being jeopardized.
That is not what I wanted to discuss.
I have had thoughts of contacting Marqui about participating in their Blogosphere program because I have a unique perspective on the service. I have done most of the implementation at work, and pretty much know the system inside and out. I know where it comes up short and I know where it excels. All of the bloggers, (from what I can tell) do not have the "inside scoop" like I do; they are given demo accounts to play and mess around with, but they do not have the experience of actually trying to get a complete site set up on the system.
On the other hand, I am not sure this is what Marqui wants it's participants to talk about. They are given certain topics to discuss. Granted, it is up to the individual whether they post on the subject, but I have a hard time trying to come up with topics other than what they are fed if they do not get the true experience of actually working with the system.
Maybe I could be a benefit in that area. Who knows, I might just post about the system without getting paid to do it. Even though there are a few down sides, (which are being worked on) I do have a lot of good things to say about it, and I think it would be different coming from someone who has delved deep into the world of Marqui.
