Swan Migration

I never thought I would drive nearly two hours to see a flock of birds, but that is what I ended up doing last weekend. I didn’t think it would be all that exciting, but it turned out to be pretty cool and a good day.

We went out near Grand Bend, Ontario to see the Tundra Swans. This is their first stop in their migration. There is a bog on both sides of the road and it was interesting to note that they only stopped in the one bog.

My pictures don’t really show just how many swans there were. Thousands of them could be seen. If you’re up for a road trip next year, check it out.

Spencer Gorge

Nancy and I spent a great day today out at Spencer Gorge. If you haven’t been there and you’re in the GTA, I highly recommend you check it out. It’s a fantastic conservation area.  With waterfalls, hiking, and great scenery, it’s a perfect way to spend a day.

Has it really been five years?

Well, it’s been five years since I have had this site up! Surprisingly enough, not much has changed. I’ve switched jobs a couple times, changed hobbies, but beyond that, I’m still plugging along. One thing that has changed is that I am a lot happier.

Random thoughts on my past posts over the last five years…

Although not has much changed with me in the past five years besides having a new awesome girlfriend, two new dogs, a quad, a new job, and two hunts under my belt, a lot has changed with the world. There wasn’t a facebook or youtube or twitter. Handguns weren’t on the block to be banned. (Idiots.) Web 2.0 wasn’t around. Blackberries were huge. Cellphones didn’t have cameras. America voted in “change”.  bitTorrent was new.  Mistress Trance wasn’t around. Gas was 60 cents a litre. I was learning now I’m teaching.

Five years ago you wouldn’t have found me.

I do this for me. Five years is something to be proud of. I can’t promise that I’ll have something worthwhile to say in the next five but I can promise that I’ll always be, ehcanadian.

A walk in the park

Nancy and I went down to Erindale park yesterday. It had been a while since I have been down there because of WIlly’s bad leg, but we decided to trek down. We weren’t sure if the trails would be accessible because of flooding, but they turned out okay.

Imagine our surprise went not 5 minutes into our walk we ran into a small herd of deer. It’s pretty cool when one can go into a park in the middle of the city and still see some nature. I knew there was deer in the park, it’s just been a few years since I have seen them.

Sorry for the poor quality. The picture was taken with my Blackberry.

See ya, WordPress

I just completed my move to BlogEngine.Net from Wordpress. While it hasn’t been seamless, I’m happy to see my site finally not running on PHP. I loathe PHP; it’s been a thorn in my side ever since I started web development.

I still have to update the content and import old posts so they show the content as they were meant to be. Completed for the most part.

In the next couple of weeks I’ll provide a Wordpress to BlogEngine.NET importer as I couldn’t find one that worked for me. You’ll need access to both databases for it to work so keep that in mind if you’re looking for it.

Man, this feels good.
