Using Google to find and download MP3’s

I've been asked a few times how I find my music. Well, for legality sake, I don't. But if I was going to, this is how I would go about it. (I'm dead against any software that uses the Gnutella network.)

First, you can always try your hand at different torrent sites such as torrentspy.com, mininova.org, or thepiratebay.org. You'll need a BitTorrent client, and I recommend µTorrent. Take a look at the guides so you can get a grasp on what BitTorrents are all about.

There is another method one can use as well, and that is using Google. For a crash course on how to do that, take a look at this article. Now, using those search queries can be daunting to say the least. So, download Firefox, and set up a keyword bookmark. To do so; Go here. Now bookmark the page in Firefox and name the bookmark something like mp3search. Go to your bookmarks and look for the bookmark you just created. Right click and choose properties. In the location field, look for KT Tunstall, and replace that with %s. Now, in the keyword field, enter "mp" (no quotes). You can use any keyword you wish, but I would avoid mp3 as it takes you to mp3.com usually. Hit OK.

Now go to the location bar and type "mp nameOfArtist". If you set it up correctly, you should see numerous listings of links with "Index of". It may take some clicks to find some real mp3's, but sooner or later you'll find a unprotected directory with at least one track from the artist you are looking for.

Good luck!
